Friend and supporter of the JCCIA, Cook County Treasurer, Maria Pappas, joined us at the June General Meeting held at Pescatore Palace Restaurant and Banquet Hall. She shared the news that the informational pamphlets for her constituents and the Cook County Treasurer's website now includes translations in Italian. We are grateful for the inclusion of the Italian language as Illinois is home to half a million Italian Americans.
Additionally, Pappas bestowed the honor of Deputy Treasurer to President Ron Onesti at the June meeting. Executive Director Jo Ann Serpico was Commissioned as Deputy Treasurer in October of 2019 for her dedication to the Italian American community. Onesti and Serpico are grateful and honored to Maria Pappas for this recognition.
